When practicing bujutsu we should always work on being centered. For non-practitioners, it is also important to have a sense of center. Both types of people should have a balance in their view of bujutsu practice. In the Shinkan-ryū Kenpō tradition it is mentioned:
Bugeisha should not praise their skills.
The true path is not remarkably broad and one needs to understand the center.
One should not be delighted by speed and complexity in any technique.
Avoid teachers and students that can not keep their word.
Being centered we can see more clearly understand what is happening and manage it. Inside of us as well as outside of us.
